Teaching English to Young Learners

As an EFL teacher, you will find it necessary to adapt your teaching methods in order to meet the requirements of your students, so it’s imperative that you have an understanding of the specific needs of the age groups that you’ll be teaching. The objective of this specialized lesson/module is to prepare the EFL teacher for both the challenges and the rewards of teaching young learners specifically between the ages of six and twelve years old.  The readings and materials for this lesson/module will cover:

>> The motivation of young learners

>> Activities and games for the Young Learner

>> Initial English lessons

>> Creating and adapting your materials and lesson ideas

>> Teaching methodology

You must work through the module content in the order which it is presented:

– Readings >> Videos >> Quiz

– Once you have completed a section/step (e.g. Readings), you must click on the “Mark complete” button which will allow you to move on to the next section/step.

Once you have completed all the reading materials for this lesson/module, you’ll be assessed in terms of your overall understanding of the materials. This assessment will be carried out in the form of a short multiple-choice type quiz.
