The International TEFL Institute accepts payments via the Stripe payment platform. You may pay using a Credit card or Debit card.

TEFL is the acronym that stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Most employers will require that you have a TEFL certificate. This will show that you have a certain level of training before stepping into the classroom for the first time. Some countries will only issue you with a work visa or permit if have a TEFL certificate.

No, our TEFL certificates never expire and are valid for life.

TEFL courses are measured in terms of hours e.g. 120 hour TEFL course.

The industry standard for TEFL courses is a 120 hour TEFL course.

Our online courses are designed to be flexible and fit in with your schedule. There are no set course dates which means that you can register today and start today.

You have 6 months to complete the Certificate or Master Diploma course. You can however complete your course as quickly as you like (some completing in as little as two weeks) or you can take your time and study at your own pace.

Yes, a TEFL course can be extended. If your course expires, you can apply to extend your course at an additional fee (US$99). The 120-hour course and 250-hour course will both be extended for an additional period of 180 days.

You will be assigned a dedicated tutor for the duration of your course. You can contact your tutor via email and ask for help or guidance or simply chat about things.

Yes, when you graduate you´ll receive a transcript with all your grades for the various modules completed during your course.

Contract periods vary from between 6 months and 12 months. In most cases, contracts can be renewed. In some cases you may find shorter contract periods. Click here to view the various contract periods in different countries.

Yes, of course, you can enrol on one of our online TEFL courses if you are proficient in English. We have many non-native English graduates.

Yes, you do not have to have a degree to enrol on one of our online TEFL courses.

As you may be working with children, some countries may want you to provide a clean police or criminal record from your country. Without this, you may not be issued with a work permit or visa.

Some countries may want you to undergo a health check before they will issue you with a work permit or visa. Some health conditions may exclude you from working in some countries. If you do have a health condition that does not exclude you from working in a particular country, be sure to check that you will be able to access any medication that you may need when making the move abroad.

Your employer, school or agent should assist you with acquiring the necessary paperwork and help you with securing the correct type of visa.

This will depend on each employer or school. Some employers will pay for your flight upfront whereas others will reimburse you the cost of the flight. Some jobs exclude payments for flights and you will be expected to pay for your own flights. It is therefore important that you clarify who pays for your flights during the interview phase for any job.

Again, this depends on the school or employer. Some schools provide free accommodation wheres others may provide a housing allowance or simply provide you with assistance in finding accommodation. It is important to clear this up during your interview, so that you do not face any unwelcome situations.

Yes, you should certainly have some cash on hand to help get you started when arriving in a new country to start working. This amount will vary considerably from country to country. Why not take a look at our country chart for some guidance on the amount you should set aside.

Your school or employer should provide you with health insurance. It is important to check with your employer as to what the health insurance covers.

This will depend entirely on the employer and the terms of your work contract. Some employers offer a contract completion bonus and some do not.
