Three Best Paying TEFL Destinations

Teaching English abroad is actually fun. As an English language teacher, there are many opportunities to explore when you decide to go abroad and make teaching English as a foreign language your profession. This article will discuss the best-paying destinations to teach English as a foreign language. While teaching English in these countries, you will be able to earn enough money; enough to travel to different places, spend on little luxuries without breaking the bank, and still have a reasonable amount left in your savings accounts.

The three best-paying destinations for TEFL are highlighted below;

1) The United Arab Emirates

The UAE is a country flowing with milk and honey; well, and oil. As a result, it attracts people from different countries, most of whom decide to settle down there. So, learning English is a prerequisite to carrying out business transactions and communicating with different people there.

Funny enough, though workers earn a lot of money, the cost of living in the United Arab Emirates is relatively low. Having a degree, a TEFL qualification and at least 2 years of experience will increase your odds of getting a job in the UAE – and this usually comes with a fat paycheck.

2) South Korea

In this country, to gain admission to the university, you must write and pass an English test to show how proficient you are in the language. English is not their first language either, so having a TEFL qualification is very lucrative here. It is easier to find a job as a TEFL teacher in privately owned schools that prepare students for universities, but if your level of qualification is higher, you will have more chances of getting a job in a university owned by the state.

However, if you’re looking to teach English in a privately run school, first do some research as many of these schools do not have a good reputation.

When you find a good institution as a TEFL teacher, you could earn between 2 million to 2.5 million Won in one month. That is a lot of money in South Korea, allowing you to live beautifully and take trips comfortably. What’s more, most of these institutions provide accommodation for free.

3) Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia probably pays better than the United Arab Emirates, depending on how you want to look at it. When you teach English as a foreign language in Saudi, in addition to huge wages, you will get bonuses which include holiday bonuses, payment for flight tickets and even free accommodation. It is advisable to have an English degree as you will have a higher chance of getting a job than someone without a degree in another discipline. And unless you take private lessons, you will not have to pay tax.
