Housing

Housing for TEFL Teachers

Will housing be provided for me abroad?

In some countries schools/employers provide furnished housing for their English teachers. Some schools/employers even have their own apartments and complexes. Various government-run programmes (state/public schools) provide free accommodation as part of the contract (e.g. South Korea).

Some schools, on the other hand, may provide a small accommodation allowance. This will of co, of course, from school to school and country to country. Not all schools provide free accommodation or an allowance (e.g. Thailand), but in most instances such as this, assistance will be given to the new English teacher to help them find appropriate accommodation.

See our country comparison chart for housing arrangements in various countries around the world.
